Energy Statistics

The workshop, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) and the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP), with the support of the Office of the Director-General for Policy Planning on Statistical Policy, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of the Government of Japan, aims to further build capacities in the region for the compilation of energy information in support of energy and climate change policies.

The course will be offered in English only.

The 4-day workshop will take place in Chiba, Japan at the headquarters of SIAP. Participants will be asked to complete online, self-paced e-Learning modules on energy statistics, balances and accounts prior to the workshop.

During the workshop, participants will learn about technical issues related to the compilation of energy information through lectures, practical exercises and discussion. In addition, they will also learn about good practices in dissemination. Besides technical issues, participants are expected to share their experiences in producing and disseminating energy statistics, balances and accounts.
